How offer tracking actually works

What happens between tapping an offer and seeing the reward in your balance, and why a small detail can break the chain.

3 min read

Every reward on EarnOpus starts with a link. When you press the button on an offer, we send you to our partner with a unique click ID attached, a long random string that stands for "this member, this offer, this moment". The partner passes that ID on to the advertiser, the company that made the game or app. Nobody in the chain receives your name or email from us. The click ID is the only thread connecting your install to your EarnOpus account, which is why everything that follows is about keeping that thread intact.

When you install the app and open it for the first time, a small measurement component inside it reports the install to an attribution service. That service looks for a recent click from the same device and, if it finds yours, marks the install as coming from EarnOpus. This matching is the most fragile moment of the whole process. If the app was already installed once, if the install happens on a different device, or if something blocked the click from being recorded, there is nothing to match and the advertiser never learns that you arrived through us.

From then on the advertiser watches for the goals listed in the offer: finishing the tutorial, reaching a level, making a first order. Each time you hit one, the advertiser notifies the partner, and the partner sends a message to our servers called a postback. A postback carries the click ID, the goal and the payout. We look up the member behind the ID, add the amount to the balance and show the step as confirmed. For most game and app offers this takes a few minutes; some advertisers send their events in batches, which can stretch it to a few hours.

Knowing the chain makes the usual failures easy to understand. Ad blockers and privacy-focused DNS services often block the redirect that records your click. VPNs and proxies make your click and your install appear to come from different places, and many advertisers reject that outright. On iPhone, declining the tracking prompt can remove the identifier used for matching. Switching browsers halfway, opening the store page yourself instead of following the link, or restoring an old save file all cut the thread as well.

Some rewards are deliberately slow. Shopping offers wait until the return window has closed, free trials wait until the first billing date has passed, and finance offers wait for the provider to verify your identity. During that time the offer appears as pending in My tasks. Pending does not mean something is wrong: the partner has told us about the event and is waiting for the advertiser's final confirmation. When it arrives, the amount moves to your balance without any action from you.

When a step you clearly completed has not shown up after 24 hours, tell us. Open a ticket from the support button and include the offer name, the date you started and a screenshot that shows the goal reached together with your player or account ID. We forward that evidence to the partner, who raises it with the advertiser. Not every claim succeeds, because the advertiser has the final word, but well-documented ones are approved far more often than not. Thirty seconds spent on screenshots while you play is cheap insurance.
